We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join the school on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference in young people’s lives, particularly those who require additional support to thrive in a mainstream secondary setting.
The Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students across the school, both in and out of the classroom. You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure all learners can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with additional needs
* Working closely with students who have EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans), helping to implement tailored support strategies
* Supporting learning in a range of subjects across the secondary curriculum
* Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement, and independence in learning
* Assisting teachers in adapting resources and activities to meet individual needs
* Building strong, trusting relationships with students to support their social, emotional, and academic development
About You:
We are looking for someone who is:
* Passionate about education and supporting young people
* Patient, empathetic, and resilient
* Able to build strong relationships with students and staff
* Ideally experienced in a school setting or working with young people (though not essential)
* From a transferable background such as youth work, care, sports coaching, or mentoring (welcome to apply)
What’s on Offer:
* Permanent, full-time position within a supportive secondary school
* Term time only working pattern, great work/life balance
* Opportunity to work closely with students with EHCPs and make a real impact
* Clear progression opportunities for the right person (including pathways into teaching or specialist support roles)
* A welcoming and inclusive school environment with strong leadership support
* Dedicated guidance from an experienced GSL Education consultant from application through to placement and beyond
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in education within a school that truly values its staff and students.
If you are passionate about supporting young people and want to be part of a school where you can genuinely make a difference every day, we would love to hear from you.
