Description VMS Fleet Compliance Officer Fixed Term Contract - Until March 2026 (potential to be extended) Grade 3 - £27,254 - £33,699 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Working 36.5 hours per week Are you passionate about ensuring legal compliance and operational excellence in fleet management? Birmingham City Council is seeking a dedicated VMS Fleet Compliance Officer to join our Vehicle Maintenance Service (VMS). This is a pivotal role focused on maintaining legal fleet compliance, auditing operational processes, and driving continuous improvement across our vehicle management services. Key Responsibilities Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with legal and internal policies. Maintain accurate records for vehicle maintenance, tax, licensing, and inspections. Audit driver compliance including CPC, licensing, tacho use, and safety standards. Develop and monitor KPIs to track operational performance. Deliver targeted training sessions on compliance standards and procedures. Prepare detailed reports and provide recommendations to senior management. Stay up to date with legislative changes and update policies accordingly. What We’re Looking For Essential Qualifications & Experience Relevant qualifications in auditing, transport management, or compliance (e.g., CPC). Proven experience in fleet compliance, auditing, or similar roles. Experience conducting operational audits and reporting findings. Skills & Abilities Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and monitor KPIs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in auditing and performance monitoring tools.
