<div><h3>Bank Midwife</h3><p>Closing date: 12 July 2026</p><p>York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking talented, caring and enthusiastic Midwives to join our Bank across both sites.</p><p>Working on the bank offers flexibility; shifts are available on both maternity units and in a variety of other areas. A period of orientation and access to the maternity in-house training programme is provided. You will work alongside midwives and support workers committed to delivering excellent patient experience.</p><p>You must hold a professional NMC registration to join the Bank.</p><p>For information about joining the bank in a different role, please contact the bank office on 01723 385080.</p><p>All bank contract workers are required to meet a minimum of 45 hours worked in a six-month period, an average of one shift per month, to keep the contract active.</p><h3>Main duties of the job</h3><ul><li>Maintain a high standard of patient-focused care in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.</li><li>Maintain a safe and clean working environment.</li><li>Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.</li><li>Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.</li><li>Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient.</li><li>Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct.</li><li>Undertake duties on different wards/departments as required by service demands.</li><li>Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures.</li><li>Engage in continuous education and training.</li></ul><p><b>Please note:</b> Under current Home Office immigration rules, we are unable to offer sponsorship for roles with a salary of less than £25,000 pa, as they do not meet UK Visas & Immigration criteria. This rules out sponsorship for Band 2 and some Band 3 roles. Applicants requiring sponsorship should assess their eligibility on https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa.</p><h3>Benefits</h3><ul><li>12.07% paid annual leave premium</li><li>Pay increments</li><li>Flexibility to pick and choose shifts</li><li>Book your own shifts online from home PC, mobile or tablet</li><li>No start-up costs – DBS and uniforms provided free of charge</li><li>Paid mandatory training in line with Trust policy</li><li>Entry to NHS pension scheme</li><li>Access to certain Trust benefits and discount</li></ul><h3>Requirements</h3><ul><li>Registered Midwife with active NMC PIN.</li><li>Minimum of 45 hours worked in a six-month period.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>For Band 6 – mentorship qualification (e.g. SLiPs, SSSA).</li><li>Evidence of ongoing professional development and education.</li><li>Evidence of reflective practice.</li><li>Newborn and Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) qualification.</li></ul><h3>Experience</h3><ul><li>For Band 6 – recent post-registration experience with evidence of highly skilled, patient-focused care.</li><li>For Band 5 – recent or upcoming completion of an NMC-approved midwifery degree programme.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively within women, families and colleagues within the multi-disciplinary health care team.</li><li>Demonstrable commitment to providing compassionate care.</li><li>Experience in multi-agency and partnership working in relation to safeguarding children.</li><li>Evidence of involvement in continuous improvement of maternity care.</li></ul><h3>Armed Forces Friendly Employer</h3><p>We hold a Gold Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme and support Defence personnel in their employment search.</p><h3>DBS Checks</h3><p>The cost of DBS checks (where required) will be reclaimed on commencement of employment.
