Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Specialist Practitioner (Band 6)
Location: Windsor & Maidenhead
Rate: £44.75 per hour (umbrella)
Working Arrangements: Full time - Hybrid working
About the Role:
Pertemps are seeking a skilled Paediatric Occupational Therapist (Band 6) to join a supportive service in Windsor & Maidenhead. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced OT who is passionate about making a difference for children and young people with disabilities.
As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will:
1. Work across a range of settings as an autonomous practitioner
2. Provide high-quality paediatric OT services to enable children and young people to achieve their potential
3. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and provide specialist advice to other professionals
4. Manage a specialist caseload of children and young people with a variety of complex physical, learning, and social needs
5. Write reports for EHCPs and contribute to MDT assessments and reviews
6. Support the development of others, including supervising students on clinical placement and guiding support workers working with your caseload
About You – Person Specification Qualifications:
7. Diploma/BSc/Graduate Diploma/MSc in Occupational Therapy
8. Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
9. Evidence of CPD and additional specialist courses relevant to your clinical area
Skills & Experience:
10. Proven experience of clinical assessment and intervention as an Occupational Therapist
11. Passion for, and/or experience in, paediatric occupational therapy
12. Strong working knowledge of child development, neurodevelopment, and childhood occupations
13. Ability to plan and prioritise workload effectively, demonstrating initiative and a solution-focused approach
14. Skilled in assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating treatment, working as an autonomous practitioner
15. Excellent written communication skills, able to produce clear reports for multi-agency use
16. Knowledge and experience of a range of therapeutic techniques and assessments (standardised and non-standardised)
17. Understanding of physical and developmental disabilities and their impact on occupational performance
18. Experience in clinical audits and/or research
19. Excellent communication skills with the ability to sensitively convey condition-related information
20. Ability to design and deliver OT programmes within a specialist field, and work collaboratively to upskill caregivers, school staff, and families
21. Experience supervising students and/or supporting junior staff
