Overview
Senior Building Surveyor role at Egis in the UK. Location options: Glasgow or Edinburgh.
About the Role
You will join our existing team of building surveyors and work on projects in both the public and private sectors. The role requires a blend of survey (condition survey, PPM, pre-acquisition) and contract administration experience, with a strong understanding of construction technology. Experience in quality monitoring of construction works is preferable. The position is based in Scotland with assignments primarily in Scotland and occasional UK travel.
Responsibilities
* Act as the interface for projects between the client, other designers and the contractor to support successful project delivery.
* Inspect existing properties and develop scope, budget costs and programmes for proposed works.
* Liaise with the client to understand requirements and keep them informed of project progress.
* Provide guidance on procurement approaches to achieve project deliverables.
* Manage design, programme and cost information to support client decision making.
* Ensure effective communication channels for project delivery.
* Develop tender documentation and specifications using NBS; coordinate tender processes and analyse returns.
* Chair and minute project meetings; act as Contract Administrator and manage project notices and correspondence.
* Monitor site quality and ensure contractor compliance with contract terms and drawings/specifications.
* Ensure relevant health and safety obligations are met by all parties.
Survey Work
* Undertake dilapidation, PPM, condition, schedule of condition and pre-acquisition surveys.
* Provide clear reports and advice to clients within legal constraints; coordinate and prepare project reports.
* Provide cost advice to clients for project work and relevant reports.
General Duties
* Oversee/review/approve work of sub-consultants or junior staff to support project delivery.
* Represent Thomas & Adamson professionally, maintaining service quality and integrity.
* Report to clients and stakeholders in line with client requirements and company standards.
* Build strong client, consultant and contractor relationships based on mutual respect and integrity.
What we need from you
* Chartered Building Surveyor
* Awareness of current legislation related to Health & Safety and Building Regulations
* Contract Administration and Project Management skills across multiple projects
* Experience with Dilapidations, Due Diligence Surveys, Schedules of Condition and Planned Maintenance Inspections
* Interest in construction technology and its link to building defects
* Proficiency in CAD with knowledge of building standards
* Ability to establish and maintain relationships with multiple clients
