About Olsen House School

Olsen House School is a specialist setting for students with Education, Health and Care Plans, with a core focus on autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and associated social, emotional and mental health needs. Many of our students have experienced barriers to learning or disruption to their education, and we respond with calm, structured, autism-responsive practice and exceptionally strong relationships.

The opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Media Teacher to join our team. Media is a distinctive and highly valued part of our curriculum and is taught from Year 7 and Year 8, providing a strong foundation for our BTEC Level 1 and 2 Media pathway delivered as a sequenced three-year programme (beginning in KS3 and progressing through KS4).

You will:

Teach Media to Year 7 and Year 8, building core knowledge, vocabulary, analysis and practical production skills.
Deliver BTEC Level 1/2 Media, supporting students to produce and improve high-quality portfolios of evidence.
Plan engaging, well-structured lessons with clear routines, modelling and scaffolding that support all learners.
Use assessment and feedback effectively to improve outcomes and portfolio quality over time.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and therapists to reduce barriers and strengthen progress.
Contribute to enrichment opportunities and authentic outcomes (e.g., showcases, exhibitions, podcasting, film projects).
We are looking for someone who:

Is an excellent classroom practitioner with a calm, consistent approach aligned to an ASD/SEND setting.
Has experience teaching Media and/or delivering vocational, portfolio-based learning (BTEC preferred).
Understands how to adapt teaching for autistic students (structure, predictability, modelling and supported independence).
Is values-led: Be Kind, Be Ambitious, Be Inspired.
Has high expectations and a commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
