Oversee clients’ accounting activities and ensure accurate maintenance of accounting records and supporting working papers. Calculate and post month-end adjustments and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting. Prepare and submit VAT returns, applying relevant technical knowledge and ensuring compliance with regulations. Deliver ad hoc project work including cloud accounting software conversions, bespoke reporting setup, and accounting catch-up exercises. Preparation of statutory financial statements Review accounts preparation work completed by junior team members. Coach and support junior staff, ensuring they receive clear instructions, appropriate training, and feedback on completed work. Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, relationship managers, and partners. Stay up to date with technical developments and make effective use of cloud accounting tools such as Xero, QuickBooks, Caseware and Dext to deliver efficient, high-quality service. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Working towards or qualified in a relevant qualification – AAT,ACA,ACCA, CIMA and with previous bookkeeping experience Ability to apply technical accounting knowledge to real life client situations Previous experience using accounting software packages, namely Caseware, Xero and QuickBooks Strong Excel skills are essential Excellent attention to detail Takes ownership of tasks, where applicable Demonstrates effective communication skills with client, as will often be main point of day-to-day contact Understands and takes an interest in their client’s business goals and sector Supports and develops junior staff by sharing technical and practical experience Job Benefits At Menzies, we know that success starts with our people.
