We're seeking an experienced and dynamic candidate to lead our Finance function across two organisations. Those businesses are notably The Fine Cheese Co. and Artisan Biscuits. The former is based at Tolldown, South Gloucestershire, and the latter at Ashbourne, Derbyshire.
The Fine Cheese Co. is a retailer, e-commerce platform, wholesaler, importer and exporter of artisan cheese, cheese accompaniments and other fine foods. Artisan Biscuits is a producer of crackers, Toasts, cookies, and savoury and sweet biscuits of the highest quality.
About the role
The main responsibility of the Head of Finance will be to manage and lead the company's financial accounting and reporting activities ensuring that they are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with best practice.
Provide leadership and support to develop the accounting staff, ensuring that the group's duties are performed to the company's satisfaction.
Provide leadership and support to the Business Analysts and the continued provision of relevant information to support business operations.
Provide strategic financial leadership to the business to improve group profitability and assess the financial viability of investment.
Oversee and produce appropriate financial and management reporting information, budgets and forecasts.
To lead the group's relationship with its principal banker and ensure the provision of accurate and timely information to them as required to support existing facilities and changes to facilities.
Develop the ERP system and procedures to ensure the effective and efficient management of the company's finances.
Recommend and implement changes that will improve the company's and financial controls.
Day to day management of group cash flows.
Represent finance in internal commercial meetings.
Manage all aspects of expenditure control & procurement spend in conjunction with the Operations Director, including assisting in insurance renewal.
Ensure that the company's statutory accounts are produced in the timescales required and lead the relationship with the business' auditors.
Communicate with senior management in relation to any financial decisions that are made.
Assist the Directors with ad-hoc analysis and project support.
Review corporate structure and propose adjustments if appropriate.
Maintain the business register of trademarks.
Salary commensurate with experience.
Essential pre requisites
Demonstrable experience of working as a Financial Accountant or Group Final Accountant
ACCA, CIPFA (or possibly CIMA) qualified
Two+ years' experience post qualification)
Hands-on approach
Commercially astute
A real interest in quality food
Preferable
Experience of international business
Experience of producing consolidated group accounts.
