We’re looking for a commercially minded Network Optimisation Manager to join our Network Design team in Bolton. This role plays a key part in shaping and improving Whistl’s logistics network by turning complex data into practical, cost-effective solutions. You’ll lead optimisation projects end to end, working closely with operational and commercial teams to drive efficiency, performance, and strategic change across the network.
This is a hands-on, analytical role suited to someone who enjoys influencing decisions, working with large datasets, and delivering tangible improvements in a fast-moving logistics environment.

About the RoleKey Responsibilities
Lead and deliver network optimisation and change initiatives aligned to business priorities
Analyse management information and modelled outputs to assess impact versus the current baseline
Manage optimisation projects from business case through to implementation
Optimise routes, depot timings, capacity, and workflow across the network
Support strategic decisions such as new locations or network reconfiguration
Develop and maintain strong relationships with operational and commercial stakeholders
Use PowerBI and Paragon to support modelling, reporting, and decision-making
Define and manage a forward plan of prioritised optimisation initiatives
Communicate recommendations clearly and influence stakeholders outside of direct line management

Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong analytical capability with the ability to handle large volumes of Excel data accurately
Proven experience using PowerBI and Paragon planning software
Background in transport or logistics solutions
Comfortable working autonomously and progressing tasks without close supervision
Confident communicator able to influence at all levels of the organisation
High attention to detail with the ability to draw clear conclusions from data
Degree-level qualification (transport or logistics desirable)
Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a related role or environmentDesirable
Prince II or a similar project management qualification
Additional Information
Full UK driving licence required
Monday to Friday 37.5hrs per week. Flexibility is required in working hours to meet operational needs
Willingness to travel across the UK, including occasional overnight stays
Training will be provided where required
