Are you polite, friendly and interested in people? An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Assistant to join the Day Care Unit and Urology Treatment Suite. The unit has 20 trolley's with a fast high turnover of patients all undergoing day surgery. The Urology Clinic works Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday performing minor urology procedures alongside the clinician. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individual with an interest in providing direct patient care to a high standard. Good communication skills are essential as is an ability to work well with others and independently. This is a busy, extremely fast paced and friendly environment where teams are required to have a pro-active approach to a rapidly changing service. The role will concentrate on tasks that directly support the needs of the day case patients and assist them in their journey. You will be expected to deliver high quality individualised care to patients. You will also be given the opportunity to support and work alongside recovery and theatre staff. Detailed job description and main responsibilities Assisting in the pre-operative admission of patients in preparation for theatre. This will include completing NEWS, applying TED stockings and where required assisting patients in changing for theatre. Preparation and maintenance of the unit. This includes ordering of stock, cleaning and safety checks, supplying fluid and nutrition to post-operative patients. Preparation of the trolley areas to allow for effective utilisation for fast turn over. Assisting the registered staff in preparing patients for nurse led discharge. Admitting patients in the Urology Treatment Suite. Assisting the registered staff with the care of patients following their urological procedure. Maintaining stock levels in the clinic.
