Health & Safety Manager
📍 Wigan | 🕒 28.5 hours per week (Monday to Thursday) | 💷 £25,000 – £30,000 per annum (DOE)

Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional looking for a new challenge within a well-established manufacturing environment? We’re working with a successful and long-standing business in Wigan who are seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Manager to take the lead on all aspects of Health, Safety, and Compliance across their offices, factory, and operations.

🔍 Role Overview:
You’ll be responsible for ensuring the company remains fully compliant with all legal and regulatory health & safety requirements. From managing risk assessments and statutory inspections to leading internal H&S meetings and liaising with external bodies – you’ll be the go-to expert on all things safety.
🛠️ Main Responsibilities:

Ensure full legal compliance on all health & safety matters across office, factory, and site operations

Raise awareness and promote a positive H&S culture throughout the organisation
*
Act as the company’s Fire Officer – managing drills, reports, and response planning
*
Maintain and update risk assessments, COSHH registers, fire assessments, and H&S manuals
*
Lead H&S meetings and act as the key internal representative on all safety issues
*
Oversee first aid provision and ensure all necessary training and supplies are in place
*
Coordinate and carry out statutory inspections (e.g., PAT testing, electrical certs)
*
Lead incident investigations and provide actionable recommendations
*
Deliver in-house H&S training and inductions
*
Support the business in disaster recovery planning and emergency response
*
Liaise with the HSE, Environmental Health, and other relevant authorities
*
Ensure ongoing compliance with accreditations and drive implementation of new ones as needed
✅ What We’re Looking For:
*
Minimum 2 years' experience in a Health & Safety role (essential)
*
NEBOSH or IOSH qualification (preferred)
*
Strong understanding of risk assessments, manual handling, COSHH & DSE assessments
*
Confident communicator with the ability to influence and advise at all levels
*
Excellent written and IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
*
A proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to work independently
