Job Description – Kitchen Assistant
Reports to: Head Chef / Kitchen Manager
Overview
We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our fast-paced and friendly pub kitchen team. Our kitchen is busy, with a strong reputation for great food and excellent service. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the chefs, keeping the kitchen running smoothly, and ensuring high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food preparation.
Key Responsibilities
* Assisting chefs with basic food preparation (e.g., peeling, chopping, portioning).
* Keeping kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils clean, tidy, and sanitised at all times.
* Washing pots, pans, crockery, and cutlery quickly and efficiently.
* Helping with deliveries: checking stock, rotating items, and storing safely.
* Ensuring food is stored, handled, and prepared safely in line with food hygiene standards.
* Disposing of waste correctly and maintaining kitchen cleanliness.
* Supporting the kitchen team during busy service times.
* Following all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
* Carrying out any other reasonable tasks as requested by the Head Chef or management.

* Ability to work quickly and under pressure in a busy kitchen.
* Good communication skills and a team player.
* Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn.
* Strong awareness of hygiene and cleanliness.
* Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and peak service times.
Experience
* Previous kitchen or catering experience is helpful but not essential – full training will be provided

Pay: £12.21-£12.50 per hour
