We’re looking for a compassionate and dedicated Social Worker to join our Family Support Team
In this role, you’ll use your skills and expertise to deliver outstanding practice that truly makes a difference. You’ll work purposefully with families, helping them navigate challenges and manage risk with confidence, while supporting longer-term plans for positive change.
You’ll be involved in every aspect of the work—from planning and reviews for children receiving care and support, to those on child protection plans or in care proceedings. At the heart of this role is helping families identify what matters most to them and supporting them to achieve their goals.

To be successful in this role, you will:

About the role
Pay Details: Grade 8, SCP 26 – 30 £37,280 - £40,777 + £5000 enhancement/ Grade 9, SCP 31 – 35 £41,771 - £46,142 + £5000 enhancement
Salary on appointment will depend upon qualification and experience as determined by the appointing officer. There is no automatic progression from Grade 8 to Grade 9
Hours of Work: 37 hours
Main Place of Work: Docks Office, Barry
DBS Check Required: Enhanced
Description:
17. To provide a social work service to children, young people and their families / carers, in line with the relevant legislation, guidance, regulations and national standards.
18. To work as part of a team, to undertake all activities involved in offering longer term support to children and families.
19. Work with partner agencies in order to maintain and develop relationship that ensure effective and timely support to children, young people and their families / carers.
About you
Workers in the Vale of Glamorgan are able to be kind, consistent and focussed in their work with children, young people and families making a real difference to children and families when circumstances are challenging. Managers are readily available and staff wellbeing is a priority.
You will need:
20. To be a qualified and registered Social Worker with Social Care Wales.
21. Experience of statutory social work with children, young people and their families.
22. Knowledge of the principles of the Childrens Act 1989 and the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014.
23. Experience of using the Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
24. An ability to negotiate effectively.
25. A commitment to partnership working.
