The operating theatre department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital is proud of the safe and effective care which we deliver. We are looking for a highly motivated Theatre Lead Scrub Practitioner. Are you an experienced Band 6 scrub practitioner with a passion in a leadership and an interest in the various dynamic and interesting specialities that we provide or a current Band 7 looking for a new challenge
As the Emergency surgery site for the Trust, we support operations across a range of specialities, including:
1. Gynaecology
2. Plastic Surgery inc Free Flap Reconstructions
3. Urology
4. General surgery
5. Orthopaedics including spinal surgery

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be a Registered Nurse or ODP (NMC or HCPC) who has specialised in the above mentioned specialities. The successful candidate will be expected to promote continuous development in clinical practice and delivery of care, encouraging innovation and appropriate change in service delivery.
In addition to this, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the management of theatre staff, providing a suitable and stimulating learning environment for students and for the ongoing professional development of registered staff.

Education, Qualification & Training
Essential criteria
6. RN (adult)/ ODP registered with HCPC
7. Degree in related field ( or equivalent experience)
8. Recognised Teaching and Development qualification
Desirable criteria
9. Completion of appropriate management and leadership programme
Experience
Essential criteria
10. Strong experience as a Band 6
11. Previous experience as a Team Leader
12. Experience of mentoring/ teaching students
13. Able to manage self and others during tension or conflict
14. Has mature outlook and is able to deal with issues in a confidential non-judgmental way
Desirable criteria
15. Experience of managing budgets
16. Ability to use clinical skills in their chosen field of expertise
