We are recruiting for the exciting role of Sous Chef, who will support with the running of our busy Kitchen in the Restaurant within our Garden Centre.

What does the role involve?

We are seeking a skilled individual who has a great eye for detail and is passionate about delivering an exceptional culinary experience for our guests. As Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen and consistently deliver high-quality dishes.

Responsibilities

* Collaborate with the Head Chef in food preparation and menu design.
* Supporting the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations including managing inventory levels and ordering supplies as needed.
* Assist the Head Chef in overseeing and supporting kitchen staff, including training of team members.
* Participate in food preparation, cooking and presentation ensuring consistency and quality in every dish served.
* Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment.
* Assisting the Head Check in menu development.
* Monitor kitchen equipment and report maintenance needs.
* Ensuring efficiency and timely service during peak hours.
* Contributing to maintaining a positive and collaborative kitchen atmosphere.
* Perform additional administrative or operational tasks as assigned by the Head Chef.

What skills and experience do you need?

* Culinary certificate or diploma; Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene certification required.
* Proven experience in a fast-paced kitchen with a strong culinary background with at least 4 years' experience as a chef.
* Proven creativity in menu design and food preparation.
* Strong leadership, management and organisation skills.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* A genuine passion for food and hospitality and a willingness to innovate.
* Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high standard of quality, hygiene and safety.

Contract: This is a permanent, full-time role (40hrs per week).

Salary: From £14.43 per hour (depending on experience)

Hours: Working hours and shift pattern to be confirmed via a rota-basis. Will include weekend working.
