New opportunity - Control Systems Engineer
Are you an skilled Control System Engineer with experience in automation projects and programming PLCs and HMIs?
Our client in Derby is recruiting for an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join their team. They specialise in high-quality machinery solutions for the medical industry. You will play a key part in bespoke automation projects in a manufacturing environment.
As the new Control Systems Engineer, you will:
Design and develop new control systems
Program PLCs and HMIs (Rockwell / Mitsubishi)
Work with software including Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, GX Works2, GT Designer 3, and Machine Edition
Implement control systems software and associated equipment
Support existing and legacy control systems and machinery
Follow SOPs to ensure consistent and controlled software development
Drive continuous improvement and maintain control systems, including PLCs and HMIs
Upgrade existing equipment and integrate new automation solutions
Develop functional, hardware, and software design specifications from user requirements
Carry out FAT, SAT, and on-site commissioning (including worldwide travel where required)
Produce detailed documentation including FDS, FAT reports, and user manuals
Promote teamwork and contribute to a positive working culture
Ensure compliance with quality standards, GMP, and health & safety regulations
Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
Undertake any additional tasks as required by the business Requirements for the role:
Minimum 3 years' experience in control systems or automation engineering
Strong PLC programming experience, ideally with Rockwell / Allen Bradley systems
Experience working within packaging machinery, special purpose machinery or similar engineering environments
Proven track record in automation control for machinery projects
Experience with motion control / servo systems (advantageous)
Ability to produce clear and detailed technical documentation
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Willingness to travel for commissioning when required About this role:
