Job Title: SEN Support Worker – Inspired Programme

Responsible to: Inspired Centre Manager

Responsibilities

· Contribute to the development and maintenance of resources to assist in the development of the Inspired Programme.

· Provide one-to-one support to designated clients as guided by senior staff.

· Contribute to the planning of activities for small groups and/or clients on a short, medium and long-term basis. Follow agreed plans and support the learning of individuals or groups of clients, using appropriate support strategies. Provide feedback and liaison over issues and concerns.

· Monitoring, recording and assessment of client progress. Ensure there are detailed and reliable records of individuals' progress.

· Contribute to the development and maintenance of a well ordered and purposeful working atmosphere.

· Maintain high levels of Health and Safety for and on behalf of all those involved in Youth Inspired.

· Maintain and keep equipment in good order.

· Carry out essential cleaning duties as directed by your line manager.

· Report all incidents of abusive practice and maintain high standards of equal opportunities.

· Support clients with eating, drinking, personal care (where required) and emotional support.

· Accompany and support clients out in the community, helping them with travel training to be able to access places and use public transport.

Administration

· Maintain and keep records, including records pertaining to programme development, Individual Learning Plans and clients' personal records.

· Contribute to the development of new programmes and applications for delivery to clients.

· Update and maintain individual folders with all documentation.

· Carry out administration duties, typing up notes from meetings, filing and general admin.

Professional Duties and Responsibilities

· Accept personal responsibility and contribute to the corporate responsibility for promoting the welfare of clients in line with the organisational policy documents.

· Read and be familiar with policy documents pertaining to the management and delivery of Youth Inspired's programmes.

· Be aware and act positively within all areas of health and safety, duty of care and equal opportunities.

· Take an active role in maintaining staff and client confidentiality.

· Act in an appropriate professional manner with all external agencies and organisations.

· Act in an appropriate manner with staff, volunteers and clients.

· Attend training and professional development as deemed appropriate by Youth Inspired for professional development and in line with national drivers for excellence.

Additional Responsibilities

· Attend line management meetings with your designated line manager.

· Attend staff meetings.

· Contribute to the achievement and execution of the Vision / Values Statements of Youth Inspired.

· Undertake additional duties as deemed appropriate to the smooth running and good order of Youth Inspired.

· Ability to work across two sites as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education & Qualifications

English and Maths GCSE – grade 4 and above

A support or teaching qualification is desirable

Experience

Recent experience of working with young people and adults with learning disabilities and moderate challenging behaviour either in a social care day setting or education environment.

Knowledge & understanding

Good knowledge and understanding of challenges young people with social and emotional needs can face. Desirable to have a knowledge and understanding of the range of complex needs experience by SEN learners.

Ability & Skills

Good verbal and written communication skills

Ability to use initiative

Good administrative skills

Able to work creatively and collaboratively as part of a team

Positive, energetic, enthusiastic and resilient, thriving on challenges

Willingness to participate in CPD

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: Up to £18,000.00 per year
