Your purpose will be:
To participate in the preparation, setting up and maintenance of the golf course, machinery and areas belonging to Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere, under the instruction of the Golf Course Manager. To maintain the standards, safety and quality of service as set out in the department SOP.
Job Description
1. Assist with the golf course maintenance duties when required as well as being responsible for the machinery.
2. Ability to prepare and maintain a program of routine maintenance for all machinery adhering to the manufacturers guidelines.
3. Maintain all equipment to the approved standard of use, adhering to health and Safety guidelines.
4. The ability to prioritise work in conjunction with the golf course maintenance needs.
5. Proven ability in diagnosis and repairing all mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
6. Be responsible for managing stock and onsite store of fast moving parts.
7. The ability to maintain accurate service records for all machinery.
8. Experience in operating Oxyacetylene, Arc and Mig Welding, Brazing and soldering work as required, conforming to Health & Safety regulations.
9. Knowledge of cylinder - grinding machines
10. The ability to fabricate miscellaneous items to help improve the efficiency of the golf course maintenance operation.

Qualifications
11. Minimum 3 years’ experience in golf course machinery maintenance, land‑based engineering, or a similar mechanical/technical role within grounds, turf, or agricultural settings
12. Level 3 qualification or above in Land‑Based Technology or Engineering (or equivalent)
13. Proven experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults on specialist turf or golf course machinery
14. Demonstrated ability to plan, carry out, and record routine maintenance programmes in line with manufacturer guidelines
15. Experience operating Oxyacetylene, Arc and MIG welding equipment, as well as brazing and soldering, in accordance with Health & Safety regulations
16. Knowledge and practical experience using cylinder‑grinding machinery
17. Experience fabricating parts or components to support machinery efficiency and course operations
18. Knowledge of specialist golf course equipment, including cutting units, utility vehicles, and irrigation system maintenance requirements
19. Ability to maintain accurate service records, stock levels, and workshop documentation
20. Basic IT skills, including the ability to use maintenance logs, digital service records, or manufacturer software
21. Formal Health & Safety training, ideally equivalent to NVQ Level 3, including safe use of horticultural chemicals and workshop safety procedures
22. Ability to prioritise workload in line with golf course maintenance needs and operational demands
