Job description: The Senior Youth Worker role is integral to ensuring the delivery of high-quality youth work across Wallingford and Didcot. In your role, you will take a lead on running the youth provision we currently have in place in Wallingford. This is comprised of a varied offer, including a mixture of street-based detached youth work, outreach youth work where it is needed most, an LGBTQ+ youth group, holiday programmes and a regular open-access youth club. This role will give you the opportunity to shape and lead youth work delivered in Wallingford to meet the young people’s ever-changing needs responsively. As part of your role, you will have the responsibility of supervising TRAIN volunteers in Wallingford and those who volunteer at the provisions you will also run in Didcot. In doing so you will need to facilitate their growth, development and retention in their volunteering positions. This role will also involve a varied mix of youth work provision delivery in Didcot. Our Didcot provisions also involve detached, outreach, youth clubs, mentoring, trips, holiday programmes and more. You’ll support the team to deliver high-quality, responsive youth work across open access, detached and mentoring provision. You’ll also develop opportunities for youth voice and participation, ensuring young people play an active role in shaping our work. We’re looking for someone who is committed to reaching young people who may not access other services, especially those who feel overlooked, unheard or unsure where they belong. You’ll be comfortable spending time in the community, meeting young people on their terms, and building relationships. You’ll deliver youth work across a range of settings, including parks, schools, and youth clubs, and help create welcoming, inclusive spaces where young people feel seen and supported. You’ll report directly to our Youth Work Manager and help ensure young people remain at the centre of all we do.
