Job Description
We are looking for a proactive, self‑motivated individual with experience of people leadership and management, programme and project management, and tenacity to deliver high‑quality results.
You will:
* Be Project Executive for the River Severn Regulation Review programme – our multi‑year programme to ensure the River Severn’s water resource is resilient in a changing climate and from growing demands.
* Line‑manage the team of technical specialists to deliver the programme.
* Lead our strategic water resources work such as linking to flood‑risk management, river basin management and regional planning, strategic water resource options, and Water Resources West.
* Work with water companies, NRW, Canal and River Trust, OCS, E&B and Area colleagues to manage water resource plans and operations. This includes engaging and influencing stakeholders for appropriate water management, leading reservoir financial management, and overseeing operation of River Severn Regulation.
* Be an active part of the Department’s, Area’s and IEP’s Leadership Groups – working in multiple teams to solve problems, share knowledge and learning, and lead and develop our people.
* Hold an active incident role and support those around you to do the same.
Experience / Skills Required
* Knowledge of water resource strategies, planning and delivery.
* People leadership and management, especially leading through change and uncertainty, and getting the best from those around you.
* Proactive, can‑do attitude; growth mindset and be comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.
* Managing projects and programmes yourself and through others – delivering strong results with tight deadlines, and managing procurement and external contracts.
* Ability to identify issues, make timely proportionate decisions from available information, and act with clarity.
* Ability to work at pace and strong focus on strategic longer‑term goals.
* Strong influencing and persuading, proficiency of communicating in a variety of ways to a variety of people, and strong relationships with internal and external customers, partners, stakeholders to deliver required outcomes.
* Experience of incident management – you need to demonstrate capabilities and confidence to hold an active role and lead others to fulfil our incident management duties.
Location and Working Arrangements
Your base location will be a West Midlands office. You will work in a hybrid way and be expected to travel across West Midlands regularly because your team and stakeholders are dispersed.
Additional Requirements
A full clean driving licence is required for the job.
Proficiency with IT, data and digital tools, and curiosity with AI is required. We need to embrace the technologies available to us so we can do our best work and unlock innovation.
