Laboratory Science Chemistry Apprentice – GSK R&D, Stevenage, UK (4‑year apprenticeship)
What you will do
* Work with multi‑disciplinary teams to progress biopharmaceuticals through discovery, development and characterisation.
* Operate and maintain state‑of‑the‑art mass spectrometry platforms and run routine assays to support screening efforts.
* Prepare samples for mass spectrometry analysis and support day‑to‑day lab responsibilities.
* Optimise chemical manufacturing processes for therapeutic oligonucleotides, including solid‑phase synthesis and enzymatic approaches.
* Support scale‑up activities to produce therapeutic oligonucleotides and develop, evaluate and interpret experimental data in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
* Undertake mandatory training, adhere to standard operating procedures and champion a safe, compliant workspace.
Qualifications and experience
* GCSE Mathematics and English Language (grade A*‑C / 9‑4) or equivalent.
* Predicted 104 UCAS points at A‑level, with one being Chemistry or a comparable scientific discipline.
* Written and spoken fluency in English.
Location and travel
Stevenage, Hertfordshire – you must live within a 60‑minute commute of the site and be expected on‑site daily.
