Tzar Labs specializes in the development of cutting-edge cancer prognostic and diagnostic technologies. The company has innovated the groundbreaking non-invasive 'HrC' test, which is the most accurate screening test to date for detecting all cancers and differentiating between non-cancer, imminent cancer, and various cancer stages. This test also serves as the first-ever prognostic tool for cancer.


Role Description

Tzar Labs UK are searching for proactive laboratory technicians (junior and senior) to join us in our UK laboratory based in Wembley. We are looking for people with the ability to work independently, once trained, who can perform lab management and technical procedures to a high standard, with senior members also being able to supervise and train junior staff members. The position requires experience with safe biological sample handling and good lab practices, with experience of working to ISO 15189 standards preferred.

The role will offer extensive training and the potential to learn new skills within a friendly environment, within a company that is expanding within the UK market. Techniques performed within the laboratory include, but are not limited to, blood sample processing, nucleic acid extraction, RNA and DNA library preparation and droplet digital PCR.


Roles and responsibilities:

Junior:

· Receipt and safe handling of biological samples

· Sample barcoding and storage

· Performing all laboratory processes to completion following appropriate standard operating procedures

· Perform and record reagent QC

· Monitoring material consumption and maintaining stock list.

· Maintaining and cleaning laboratory equipment on a regular basis and ensuring that problems with equipment are reported and recorded correctly

· Cleaning all areas of the laboratories following the appropriate cleaning procedures. Cleaning includes general, recycling and clinical waste disposal, clearing away delivery boxes/packaging and cleaning surfaces.


Senior:

· Performing all laboratory processes to completion following appropriate standard operating procedures

· Maintain Patient Information data on daily basis.

· Participate in other essential laboratory activities including reagent QC, equipment maintenance, personnel training, competency assessment, and proficiency testing.

· Preparation of documentations as per ISO 15189 or any other required regulatory standards.

· Attend required training and compliance courses.

· Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to laboratory equipment and procedures.

· Training and supervision of junior staff members

· Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety requirements, GDPR, ISO 15189 and any other regulatory requirements, in addition to all company procedures, policies, and protocols within the QMS

· Logging and reporting any nonconformances/incidents, or trends toward these, to senior management



Person Specification:

Both roles:

· Meticulous attention to detail

· Organised with an ability to manage their own workload effectively

· Good IT skills

· Effective oral and written communicator

· Ability to work in a team or alone when required

· Flexibility and adaptability in their approach to tasks and requests

· A willingness to learn, develop new skills and embrace changes

· Experience in safely handling biological samples

· Experience working in a laboratory-based ISO 15189 environment is desirable

· Applicants must hold a BSc in molecular biology or a related field


Senior:

· Experience of working with quality Management Systems and a strong understanding of documentation requirements for accredited laboratories

· A proved record of training junior staff members and signing off/monitoring competency

· Senior applicants must have aa minimum of 3 years relevant experience



Additional Requirements

In order to meet the laboratory requirements of an early stage company, all staff must have a flexible approach to the working week, with laboratory technicians expected to work additional hours when required to meet the needs of the company.

Laboratory Technicians must be effective communicators and able to work in a team or independently if required. They must be able to identify their limitations and voice their requirements for further training to their Line Manager.
