Supply Chain Manager

Our client, a leading engineering services provider, is seeking a proactive Supply Chain Manager to transform how parts, stock, and suppliers are managed across their operations. This is an opportunity for a commercially minded problem-solver to take ownership of procurement, stock control, and supplier relationships, ensuring engineers have exactly what they need, when they need it, to achieve first-time fixes and deliver excellent customer outcomes.
In this hands-on role, you will oversee everything from van stock strategies and inventory planning to supplier negotiations and cost-saving initiatives. Initially managing one team member (with the potential to grow), you will play a pivotal part in improving service delivery, reducing waste, and driving operational improvements. Longer-term, you’ll help shape group-wide supply chain strategies, implement KPIs, and reduce supplier complexity, making a real impact on company performance.
Job Description:
Manage supplier relationships to ensure part availability, competitive pricing, and high service standards
Develop and deliver a procurement strategy aligned to business growth and cost reduction targets
Oversee van stock and central inventory management to optimise first-time fix rates
Coordinate logistics including deliveries, returns, and replenishment
Use data to forecast demand and align stock levels with operational needs
Drive process improvements to enhance speed, accuracy, and cost-efficiency
Standardise product ranges and reduce unnecessary variation
Track procurement budgets and report on savings and performance against KPIs
Person Specification:
Essential:
Proven experience in procurement, stock management, or logistics within engineering or technical services
Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
Data-driven approach to forecasting and inventory control
Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
Effective problem-solver with a critical eye for continuous improvement
Confident communicator, able to work across teams and suppliers
Proficient with stock and procurement systems
Desirable:
Experience managing van stock or supporting mobile workforces
Background in fire & security, construction, or similar sectors
Track record of delivering cost savings or transformation projects
Familiarity with first-time fix strategies and field service models
