Join Our Team as a Cafe and Catering Chef!
Do you have a passion for creating high-quality food and transforming lives? The Nelson Trust is looking for a dynamic Cafe and Catering Chef to join our team in Gloucester and Cheltenham!
What We Offer:
Salary: £15 per hour
Hours: 32.5 hours per week, Wednesday – Sunday, 7:30am - 3pm
Pension: Auto enrolment pension with a 6% employer contribution
Your Role:
Prepare, cook, and serve delicious meals for events, catering orders, and our cafes
Manage a small team of supervisors and support staff
Develop and implement innovative catering menus
Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are met
Maintain accurate records of food supplies, freezers, and fridge temperatures
Keep in line with food budgets and cost control
Ensure stock rotation, order stock, and check deliveries
Provide direction and oversight to Café supervisors
Manage planning, production, and delivery of catering orders
Support and train staff and volunteers
Supervise and instruct staff and volunteers in the use of all equipment and hygiene procedure compliance
Report any illness of an infectious nature or accident immediately to your line manager
Provide support to other areas of the hospitality and catering operations as provided by The Nelson Trust
Aid the marketing and promotion of the business through online and face-to-face communication
Ensure the catering arm develops and operates in ways consistent with the brand architecture

Requirements:
3 years’ experience as a chef or equivalent qualification
Excellent people, communication, and man-management skills
Commitment to the values of the Nelson Trust
An outgoing and positive personality and attitude with a passion and drive to succeed
A full clean driving licence
Desired Skills:
IT literate
Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate
Knowledge of business infrastructure, including P&Ls and budgets
Experience running a professional kitchen
