Warrington & Halton Cardiac Rehab Team have maintained BACPR/NACR Green status for a number of years. We are part of the North West Cardiac Rehab Network, sharing best practice and training opportunities.
We see patients with varied diagnosis: MI, PCI, CABG, Valve surgery, Heart Failure, Heart Transplant, across two venues in Warrington and Halton. With a patient‑centred approach, helping them to achieve their goals. This could be to simply improve their breathlessness doing ADLs, right through to running a 150mile race…

The role of the OT in the team, will be to bring their specialist skills to the MDT team, supporting patients through their Cardiac Rehab journey at numerous points.
Main Duties
You will be working as part of a small but highly specialist team, in an outpatient setting, in our hospital and community venues.
Using your specialist skills to support patients recovery after their Cardiac diagnosis or treatment.
The OT role is to mainly support our patients from a psychosocial aspect, helping patients with their mental health. The post holder will ideally have experience of supporting patients mental health or be willing to undertake CPD to gain the relevant competencies.

Person Specification
Essential
* BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
* HCPC registration.
* Ability to work at different sites.
* Experience of working in the NHS.
* 4 years working as a Band 5 OT or 2 years as a Band 6 OT.
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to overcome barriers to communication.
* Excellent organisational skills and able to prioritise and delegate and have a flexible approach to planning your day.
* Confident in dealing with difficult situations.
* IT literate with experience of using Microsoft applications and e‑mail.
* Use of exercise equipment (e.g. bike, rower, dumbbells etc.).
* Use of blood pressure and other small equipment to monitor patient observations.
* Moderate to high levels of concentration, we see some very complex patients. With high levels of anxiety and depression after their diagnosis.
Desirable
* Ongoing CIP or other counselling qualifications.
* BACPR CPD course attendance.
* BACPR Member.
* BAOT member.
* Have set up and run patient support groups.
* Experience of working in Cardiac Rehab or on Cardiology Wards.
* Experience in working in a community setting.
* Previous experience of supervision of junior staff and/or assistants.
* Experience of exercising with patients or you undertake regular exercise outside of work.
* Learning through service development and implementation.
* Counselling patients or completed competencies in supporting patients with mental health problems.
