Data Scientist – Zurich Corporate Risk – 18 month fixed term contract
Working hours: This role is available on a part-time, job-share or full-time basis.
Salary: Attractive compensation package depending on experience
Location: We welcome applications from individuals based across the UK, with the opportunity to work primarily remotely alongside occasional hybrid attendance at your nearest Zurich office.

The opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join Zurich Corporate Risk (ZCR) as a key member of our ZCR Actuarial Pricing team. ZCR develops employee benefits insurance solutions for corporate customers. We are looking for a business-oriented and motivated person with strong predictive modelling skills to join our team.
This role will
1. Support development and implementation of priority advanced analytics use cases relevant to UK ZCR, including mortality rate modelling, conversion rate modelling, and price elasticity modelling.
2. Contribute to capability uplift and knowledge transfer within the UK Pricing team
3. Support delivery milestones during a period of heightened transformation demand
What will you be doing?
4. Lead on the development of various predictive analytics projects in the team
5. Transform raw data into usable assets through data preparation, feature generation and in-depth exploratory analysis
6. Develop and refine machine learning models, ensuring they are fit for purpose and deliver measurable value
7. Produce insightful visualisations and documentations to support your findings
8. Act as a key bridge between technical teams and stakeholders, clearly presenting findings in a practical, business-focused way
What are we looking for?
9. Significant experience working in data science or insurance pricing roles.
10. Practical experience implementing machine learning models (including GLMs) using modern model development techniques.
11. Strong programming skills, including Python and SQL.
12. Experience working with cloud-based analytics platforms, such as Databricks.
13. Knowledge of insurance products is a plus.
14. Familiarity with developer toolkits (including Git and DevOps) is desirable.
15. Highly numerate and analytical with strong technical ability and financial awareness.
16. A proactive, can‑do attitude, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality outcomes and a positive user experience.
17. A genuine interest in solving real business problems and partnering directly with business stakeholders.
18. Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and effectively.
19. A collaborative team player, with the confidence to guide and influence team activity where needed.
20. Excellent written and spoken English.
