Role is hybrid with 4 days per week in Northampton office



We are currently working exclusively with a market leading company whose business has sustainability at the forefront of everything they do. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join their procurement team.


Your main focus in this role will be to assist the Head of Procurement in widening the scope of procurement within the organisation, centralising procurement for products and services previously purchased on an ad hoc basis. You will also manage and assist with one off and long-term projects to create cost saving and efficiency within the business, taking the lead on allocated procurement activity.



Key Responsibilities:


* Identifying areas of spend for potential cost reductions and implementing strategies across all sites, divisions and categories in the business.
* Undertake supplier management activities including meeting with suppliers and visits to supplier sites for audits and reviews.
* Undertake proactive negotiation and tenders with new/existing suppliers for new/renewed contracts.
* Manage allocated relationships and arrangements with the appropriate companies, support the Head of Procurement with other supply chain activities.
* Ensure best value remains a key focus in all procurement support activities.
* Produce and provide reports and information as required by the business.
* Working with colleagues across all areas of the business to raise the profile of the procurement team, providing cross-functional support across all company activities.



Skills & Experience:


* Demonstrable experience of adding value through procurement activities
* Experience of undertaking procurement for a multi-site organisation
* Experience of tendering
* GCSE English and Maths – Grade B / 5 (or equivalent) required
* Degree 2:1 (or equivalent) desirable
* A professional procurement/supply chain management qualification is desirable
* Excellent negotiating skills
* Able to build strong internal and external relationships
* Very high accuracy and attention to detail
* Fully IT literate with advanced Excel skills
* Full clean driving licence required
