Role Title: HVAC Design Engineer – Plant Equipment

We are now recruiting for the exciting role of HVAC Design Engineer – Plant Equipment.
TheHVAC Design Engineer – Plant Equipmentwill be a key member of the Miscellaneous Plant Equipment team, responsible for delivering a broad range of HVAC-related products into the Small Modular Reactor (SMR) programme. This role involves full product ownership—collaborating with stakeholders to define and develop requirements, applying modularisation and standardisation principles, supporting sourcing activities, overseeing product development, conducting governance reviews, and managing contract delivery to ensure successful integration into the SMR.
Key selection criteria:
Product Development
* Demonstrable experience/knowledge of design, manufacture, operation, and maintenance of components in HVAC equipment.
* Willingness to expand experience to development of products outside of the HVAC scope.
* Knowledgeable in requirements capture, development, validation and verification.
* The candidate will need to be demonstrate working with external suppliers to achieve product development.
* The Design Engineer would be capable of technically checking the work of suppliers and giving feedback.
* The candidate would ideally have a wide knowledge and prior experience of relevant industry codes and standards, such as ASME III, ASME VIII, EN13445, PED/PSSR etc.
Ability to communicate and build relationships
* The role requires the candidate to communicate and build relationships with a large variety of stakeholders across the business, covering functions such as component design, system design, analysis, verification, manufacturing, supply chain, commercial, programme management and business development.
* The candidate will be required to build relationships suppliers. This shall include leading initial contact, discussion of supplier offerings, progress meetings when in contract and managing any challenges through delivery. The candidate will be required to support engagements with external stakeholders, including customers and regulators.
* This will include being capable of supporting a variety of discussions with third parties, as well as being capable of leading presentations on complex cross functional topics relevant to the role scope
Programme development & delivery
* The candidate shall be required to develop and manage engineering programmes for the defined scope of the role. This will include the management of supply chain activities to ensure timely delivery of product.
* The candidate shall be required to manage high levels of ambiguity within the programme and work closely with the Manager – Plant Equipment to provide control and direction.
* The candidate shall be required to manage risks across their scope and ensure adequate mitigation activities are identified and implemented.
* The candidate shall be required to support the development and implementation of the supply chain strategy and vendor selection.

* The role requires the candidate to have the ability to work with multiple stakeholders internally and externally, create a supporting working environment, and communicate up and down the business hierarchy.
* The candidate will ideally have experience dealing with stakeholders internally and externally and be capable of bringing together and leading technical discussions with third parties.
Pay and benefits
We anticipate paying a salary of between £40,000 - £52,500 DOE plus:-
· Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 12.5%
· Benefits Allowance – £2,200 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package
· Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
· Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.
· Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
· Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
· £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
