Casual Receptionist – Leisure Centre (Larne)
Location: Larne Leisure Centre

Contract: Temporary, Casual (as and when required)
Rate of Pay : £13.69 per hour
About the Role
We are currently seeking a professional and customer-focused Casual Receptionist to join a busy leisure centre team in Larne. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with the public and thrives in a fast-paced environment, delivering a high standard of front-of-house service while supporting administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Reception Duties
1. Provide a courteous, efficient, and welcoming reception service to all customers
2. Answer telephone calls promptly and manage switchboard operations
3. Handle customer queries, feedback, and complaints, escalating where necessary
4. Operate the public address system in accordance with procedures
5. Provide information on leisure centre services, activities, and Council-wide facilities
Booking & Financial Duties
6. Operate computerised booking and point-of-sale systems
7. Process payments, including cash, card, and online transactions
8. Issue tickets, refunds, and complimentary vouchers as required
9. Balance daily takings (cash, cheques, card payments) and complete relevant documentation
10. Prepare till floats and handle deposits for equipment hire
Operational Support
11. Implement emergency procedures (fire alarm, medical, pool alarms) in line with NOPs and EAPs
12. Monitor lighting and general reception area operations
13. Control access to the centre, including entry of visitors and contractors
14. Issue visitor badges and maintain accurate records
15. Manage lost property procedures, including safe handling of valuables
16. Assist in monitoring swimming pool access and enforcing centre policies
17. Prevent entry of non-payers and ensure child protection policies are followed
Administrative Duties
18. Provide clerical support to the Office Administrator
19. Maintain accurate records in line with data protection regulations
20. Support ticket sales and distribution for special events
Essential Criteria
Applicants must meet one of the following:
21. GCSE Maths and English Language (Grade C or above) or equivalent and at least 1 year’s relevant administrative experience
OR
22. Minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in a similar role (in lieu of qualifications)
In addition, candidates must have:
23. At least 6 months’ clerical experience in a customer-focused environment
24. A minimum of 6 months’ experience using Microsoft Office
