Job Description
Are you passionate about cutting:edge AI and machine learning in digital services, and want to deliver positive real:world value to the UK? We are looking for aSenior Data Scientist to join our team and help solve a variety of interesting problems in the National Security space.
At BAE Systems Digital Intelligence, we work with a wide range of government customers, across defence, space, and government. In our national security AI team, we undertake a variety of projects covering exploratory research into AI methods and approaches, bespoke solutions to complex customer problems, and infrastructure projects working across large customer datasets.
This will be a varied role, where you will have the opportunity to work with a range of interesting technical and non:technical customers, a wide range of data types and methods (across text, images, audio, video, graphs, geo:location), and the opportunity to deliver real value, helping to solve complex challenges and keep the UK safe. One day you might be talking to customers to help understand their problems and scope out future projects, the next writing literature reviews on novel AI approaches, and the next undertaking complex technical data science work and project delivery.
We are not looking for one single set of skills, but individuals with a good depth of experience across AI, machine learning and statistics, along with a good understanding of how these within a business, along with how to communicate complex concepts to non:technical individuals, scope out projects, and deliver high:quality, scientifically:justified solutions to customers.

:Being a key technical point:of:contact for AI and data science expertise, sharing knowledge across meetings, bids and technical projects.
:Leading and working on technical AI projects, working with ML engineers, project managers and non:technical customers.
:Meeting with users to help scope out ongoing and future AI projects, understanding use:cases and planning out delivery plans which capture the subtleties of the requirements.
:Working alongside ML engineers to help build and deploy models into products across our AWS cloud services
:Assisting with writing bid responses to customer problems, often requiring diving into the literature surrounding complex technical concepts in AI, ML and statistics.
:Presenting results of technical work both internally and to our customers.
:Helping mentor and manage junior team members and graduates across the business.
:Helping to educate others across the business in AI and related methods through collaborative work (including software engineers, leadership, non:technical consultants) and presenting to wider communities via blogs, events and conferences.
About you
You will have experience in many of the following:

:BSc (or MSc / PhD) in a quantitative, scientific discipline (e.g. maths, physics, computer scienceor similar).
:Expert knowledge of AI, ML and statistical methods, and their application across some of the following domains (e.g. NLP, images, audio, graphs, time series, tabular data).
