Mechanical Assembly Technician (Cleanroom)
Hailsham, East Sussex – Full-time, Permanent – 37 hours per week – Competitive Salary and Excellent Benefits.
Join a specialist manufacturing company that delivers high-performance engineered systems for research and industrial environments. The role involves the assembly of high-precision mechanical and electrical sub‑assemblies within a controlled cleanroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assemble mechanical and electrical components to engineering drawings and specifications.
* Carry out specialist wiring and electrical testing of precision sub‑assemblies.
* Maintain cleanroom assembly standards and procedures.
* Support the transition of new products from NPI into full production.
* Create and update manufacturing instructions and build documentation.
* Record and maintain test data, serial numbers, and quality control information.
* Ensure full traceability of assemblies for future service and support.
* Support continuous improvement of assembly and manufacturing processes.
* Work closely with engineering teams to resolve build or test issues.
* Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and cleanroom protocols.
Candidate Profile
* Experience in mechanical or electromechanical assembly within a manufacturing environment.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
* Strong attention to detail with a quality‑first mindset.
* Experience in low‑volume, high‑precision or bespoke manufacturing environment.
* Comfortable with fine assembly, hand fitting, and specialist wiring tasks.
* Able to work under pressure and meet defined production deadlines.
* Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
* Experience working with high‑technology or cleanroom manufacturing environments (desirable).
* Familiarity with precision instrumentation or advanced scientific equipment.
* Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering (desirable).
* Occasional travel to client sites may be required (planned in advance, expenses covered).
* Full driving licence required due to location.
