NEONATAL UNIT

BAND 6 NEONATAL SISTER/CHARGE NURSE - FULL AND PART TIME HOURS

Looking for a new and exciting opportunity to work within a critical careenvironment? We have full & part-time vacancies within our Neonatal Unit at Russells HallHospital, withadditionalopportunities to rotate to our adult critical care unit and theatres.

We are looking for registered nurses or midwivesto join our innovative,compassionateand family focused neonatal team. If you like a challenge and are passionate about developing neonatal practice this is the post for you. The successful applicant will be qualified in specialty with experience in providing high quality care for intensive care, high dependency and special care babies and their families.

We are looking for a highly motivated nurse who can develop their managerial skills, supporting junior colleagues and the multi –disciplinary team in decision making and planning. Excellent communication skills and the ability to drive service improvements are essential.

The neonatal unit atRussellsHall Hospitalcomprisesof3 intensive care, 2 highdependency, 13special careand 4transitionalcarecots.

Main duties of the job

As part of the neonatal nursingteam, you willbe responsible for the assessment and delivery of care to sick and preterm babies.You will work in collaboration with parents and carers to promote healthy family bonding,parentand baby relationships. Within the role you will be supported by the Lead nurse and clinical Band 7 team to manage the day to day running of the unit and develop your own leadership and managerial skills. A desire to contribute to a supportive learning environment is imperative.

Person specification

Education and Qualifications

* RN/RSCN/RNC/RM
* Specialist Intensive Care of the Newborn Course or equivalent - completed or submitted for ratification
* Educated to diploma level or can demonstrate experience of operating at this level
* Evidence of undertaking a recognised course of study in teaching and assessing
* Educated to 1st degree level or evidence of study at degree level

Knowledge & Training

* Evidence of professional development and regular study since qualification.
* Knowledge of clinical audit and effectiveness systems.
* Effective leadership, good analytical and clinical decision making skills.
* Experience of close liaison with members of multidisciplinary team.

Experience

Communication & Relationship Skills

* Effective communication skills, verbal and written.
