The Role
We are seeking a Purchase Ledger Assistant on a fixed-term contract to join our finance team. In this role, you’ll help keep our supplier accounts running smoothly, ensuring invoices and payments are processed efficiently. If you enjoy organising, problem-solving, and working closely with others, this could be the perfect opportunity to grow your skills and contribute to a thriving team.
What You’ll Do
* Accurately process high volumes of purchase invoices
* Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes (3-way matching)
* Set up and maintain supplier accounts
* Prepare and process supplier payments on time
* Help resolve invoice or payment queries with kindness and clarity
* Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies
* Ensure VAT is coded correctly in line with regulations
* Support month-end closing activities, including accruals and reporting
* Maintain clear, organised records and assist with audits
* Provide general support to the wider finance team with ad-hoc tasks
What We’re Looking For
* Experience in accounts payable or purchase ledger roles
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
* Confident and clear communicator with both colleagues and suppliers
* Familiarity with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
* Understanding of basic accounting principles and VAT
Nice to Have
* AAT qualification or studying towards AAT
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
