Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a substantive whole time appointment to this newly established post with Bury Mental Health Services. This post covers a sector of the Bury area and was created due to the current consultant moving to another job in the trust.
The Bury general adult psychiatry service (people aged 16 to 64) has been run since 2008 according to a model whereby our team of consultants are deployed as follows: Three consultants work exclusively in the community and outpatient focus areas, one working with the Early Intervention Service, and two inpatient area including Home Treatment and two A&E Liaison Team. Also one consultant in Living Well.
Within this arrangement, the consultant appointed to this post will work with other sector consultants (East, West and South sector community outpatients).
Main duties of the job
This is a newly created post. This is an exciting time to join the Trust and there are many opportunities to contribute to the organisation's innovation and for personal development.
Bury has a very strong teaching commitment and candidates will be expected to contribute to the teaching of medical and nursing staff.
Patients will be seen in community clinics, at their own homes or in other clinical settings according to clinical need.

Qualifications
* MBChB or equivalent
* Full registration with GMC in good standing
* GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
* Approved Clinician (AC) status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
* S12 approval OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
* Excellent knowledge in adult psychiatry including a range of conditions and complex psychological problems
* Wide specialist and sub‑specialist experience relevant to the post within NHS or comparable service
* Experience in detention of patients under the MHA (1983)
* Experience of writing reports for the Mental Health Review Tribunals
* Evidence of teaching and training abilities
* Commitment to service improvement and organisational philosophy
* Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (CPD registered)
* Evidence of audit activity
* Available for on-call rota
* Experience supervising trainees (basic and specialist registrar)
* Interest in management and service development
* Demonstrated initiative, innovation, enthusiasm
* Published audit and research experience
