Emergency Medical Technician - Acute Medical Services

We are recruiting for an Emergency Medical Technician - Acute Medical Services who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
You will be trained to achieve a high level of practical skills for use within the Acute Medical Services - shared across AMU/SDEC/SSU. Upon completion of your training, you will be capable of undertaking duties such as: Baseline Observations, Application of Support/Splintage, Cardiac Monitoring, Venepuncture, BLS, Wound Care, and Suturing.

Main duties of the job
* Assisting nursing staff in maintaining a safe environment and delivering high-quality patient care.
* Performing baseline observations, applying support/splintage, cardiac monitoring, venepuncture, basic life support (including AED) for adults and children, wound toilet, suturing, and techniques of wound closure.
* This role involves working across AMU, SDEC, and Short Stay Unit.
* Ensuring familiarity with health and safety issues.
* Learning the layout and functioning of medical equipment.

Qualifications/Training
* Good basic education in English & Math
* Care certificate or Level 2 apprenticeship in healthcare
Previous Experience
* Ability to work closely with all staff grades
* Adaptability and prioritization skills under pressure
* Experience in a healthcare setting and dealing with patients
* Operation of medical equipment
Skills
* Motivation and initiative to work independently and as part of a team
* Politeness, approachability, confidentiality

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This role requires a DBS check due to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
