Please note, this role is based at our Manchester Store Support Centre & Home, with colleagues typically working in the Manchester SSC 2 days per week on average.
As a Finance Associate - Credit Control, your key responsibilities will include minimizing aged debt through proactive collection efforts, ensuring accurate reporting and data analysis, reconciling balance sheets, raising journals, and driving process improvements and automation initiatives.

* Proactively investigate and chase debt across various ledgers using multiple systems to meet team KPIs.
* Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Escalate queries and problematic accounts, engaging stakeholders for resolution.
* Update Aged Debt reports with notes to facilitate accurate cash collection.
* Support audit processes and internal controls management.
* Understand all team tasks for effective absence and holiday coverage.
* Assist in process efficiency improvements, collaborating with Sainsbury’s Business Services (SBS) and Offshore teams.
* Maintain and update process maps and guides, implementing new procedures as needed.
* Identify and eliminate risks through process improvements.
* Drive continuous development and initiative-driven change.
More about you
* Good foundational knowledge of accounting principles.
* Intermediate proficiency in Excel and familiarity with other Microsoft Office tools.
* Numerate, organized, and detail-oriented.
* Experience in Credit Control or Accounts Payable is desirable.
* Basic understanding of invoicing, credit notes, debit notes, and VAT is advantageous.
