This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. A key component of this role involves continual improvement and standardization of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, industry guidelines, and promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Work with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required exposure monitoring/health surveillance programs.
2. Deliver occupational hygiene plans related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic exposures, including but not limited to:
* Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
* Chemical workplace exposure monitoring (e.g., benzene, toluene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, cement-based products, welding fumes, toxic gases)
* Asbestos Management and surveys, including material and risk assessments
* Noise and vibration management, including surveys and exposure assessments
* Radiation management and assessments
* Thermal hazard, potable water, communicable diseases, mould, animal/insect hazards, DSE, and fatigue assessments
1. Recommend and design control strategies.
2. Monitor and evaluate control measures, e.g., LEV/PPE/RPE testing and inspections.
3. Deliver occupational hygiene training programs, including asbestos awareness and PPE/RPE use.
4. Ensure assurance processes (inspections and audits) are conducted across all operational sites, including support centers and NUIs, covering occupational health standards and food/welfare areas.
5. Maintain calibration systems for occupational hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements Include:
1. Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via:
* Qualifying BOHS degree or
* BOHS W & P modules
6. Minimum 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, with knowledge of measurement techniques.
7. Drive and passion to champion occupational hygiene and workplace health risks, influencing management and workforce.
8. Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting to various audiences and mediums.
9. Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
