Ophthalmic Medical Photographer

An opportunity has arisen for a 12 month temporary position within the Ophthalmic Imaging Department. The Post holder will actively participate and assist with the effective and efficient maintenance of a comprehensive Imaging and Diagnostic photographic service to the Directorate of Ophthalmology. They should be able to prioritise and plan their own workload and the ability to work independently is essential. They will assist with service development and audit of photography and imaging, ensuring high standards are maintained. Where appropriate, adhere to and implement good scientific practice standards for Ophthalmic and Vision Science.
Main duties of the job
* Retinal photography
* Fluorescein fundus angiography – electronic image recording, image processing and quality assurance
* Optical coherence tomography
* Administration of eye drops to facilitate ocular imaging
* Visual acuity assessment
* Concentration for prolonged periods to capture images and manipulate them for best result for the patient
* Preparation of images for clinic sessions

Person Specification
Experience
* Must have an ophthalmic health‑care background
* Experience using imaging equipment and software
Qualifications & Training
* Numeracy and literacy level GCSE maths & English A‑C / 4‑9 or O level/GCE A‑C or CSE Grade 1 or NARIC/ENIC comparable to UK GCSE
* Must be computer literate
* OCT capture/interpretation course
Knowledge & Skills
* Must be able to work on own initiative and prioritise busy workload
* Excellent interpersonal skills are required to achieve desired results for patients
* Must be able to communicate where there are significant barriers to understanding and be able to fault‑find on complex equipment
