About the Role
My client is seeking a Manager – Indirect Tax to take on a visible, hands‑on role within an established in‑house tax function. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced indirect tax professional to operate at manager level within a FTSE‑listed organisation.
Working closely with the Indirect Tax Senior Manager, you will support the delivery of my client’s indirect tax strategy, provide practical and commercial advice to the business, and help ensure compliance within a fast‑moving regulatory environment.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality indirect tax advice and analysis to support commercial decision‑making across my client’s business
* Advise on VAT treatment for new services, cross‑border activity, property income, and operational transactions, helping to optimise VAT recovery
* Maintain the property register and work closely with property teams to ensure accurate and compliant reporting
* Assess the indirect tax implications of new legislation and regulatory change, clearly communicating risks and opportunities
* Support the preparation and review of UK VAT returns, including returns for related group entities
* Manage the group’s partial exemption position, considering both existing and new sources of exempt income
* Assist with compliance obligations across other indirect taxes, including CBAM, CCL and red diesel
* Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal tax policies, guidance and training materials
* Coordinate responses to HMRC and other tax authority queries, audits and information requests
* Build strong relationships with Finance, Legal, Shared Services, operational teams and external advisers, supporting wider tax initiatives and risk management activities
Qualifications
* CTA qualification is desirable, but not essential
* Knowledge of indirect taxes, including CBAM, CCL and red diesel
Required Skills
* Strong VAT technical knowledge with the ability to operate confidently at a managerial level
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
* Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build trusted relationships across a large organisation
