Overview
Quality Control Technician (QCT) role at Heidelberg Materials UK (formerly Hanson UK). Location: Ipswich. Contract Type: Permanent - Full time. Salary: Competitive + Benefits.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Testing & Quality Control: Conduct field and lab tests on concrete and aggregates (slump, compressive strength, etc.). Ensure compliance with ASTM, BS EN, and local standards. Analyse data and produce detailed reports.
* Material Inspection: Inspect raw materials (cement, sand, limestone, admixtures). Monitor deliveries and verify against specifications.
* Supervision & Mentorship: Guide junior technicians and review test results. Share technical expertise and training.
* Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate logs, calibration records, and databases. Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
* Compliance & Safety: Follow all safety protocols and regulatory standards. Actively report near misses and ensure safe working practices.
* Project Coordination: Collaborate with contractors and quality managers. Conduct site visits and sample collection. Uphold the EDF Code of Conduct for Sizewell C.
Key Accountabilities
* Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures.
* Liaise with contractors and internal teams to meet customer expectations.
* Report any defects or issues affecting product quality or safety.
* Maintain site cleanliness, security, and professional standards.
* Support investigations into product issues and site practices.
* Challenge unsafe or non-compliant behaviours.
* Transport test specimens as required.
What You’ll Need
* Solid understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental compliance.
* Level 1 Award Training.
* CSCS certification for construction sites.
* Triple Bar Nuclear New Build qualification.
* NVQ qualification in a relevant field.
* Strong communication and analytical skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
