Configuration and Data Manager
Location: Crawley (Hybrid working – minimum 3 days at office)
Role: Part-time (Remote/Hybrid)
We are looking for a Configuration and Data Manager to support the Thales Training & Simulation (T&S) engineering team. The role involves developing, delivering, and supporting configuration management processes for a variety of customers including land, air, space, naval forces and critical national infrastructure operators.

Key Tasks / Responsibilities
* Co‑ordinate all configuration management activities within projects in collaboration with stakeholders (PMs, EDMs, WPMs, other CMs).
* Organise configuration management activities and interface with PMs on planning and management aspects, ensuring compliance with contractual and FLX configuration management requirements.
* Establish and implement the Configuration Management Plan.
* Specify configuration management requirements to subcontractors and suppliers through statements of work.
* Participate in the selection of configuration items and the establishment of the various breakdown structures.
* Ensure identification activities (CI selection, breakdown structures, baseline needs) are executed.
* Lead and control the Configuration Control Board (both internal and external) and related communication.
* Establish configuration baselines (FBL, ABL, PBL, and others as required).
* Record and report configuration status.
* Participate in end‑of‑phase reviews (SFR, PDR, CDR).
* Perform configuration verifications and functional/physical configuration audits.
* Raise awareness, advise and share best practices with contributors on configuration management implementation.
* Support analysis of contractual requirements and preparation of configuration management quotations during the bid phase.
About You
* Degree in an engineering discipline with proven experience in configuration management.
* Experience working in integrated teams combining specific developments and off‑the‑shelf solutions.
* Strong knowledge of system integration principles (system, hardware, software).
* Proficiency in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools such as Windchill, Teamcenter, etc.
* Ability to adapt and assess configuration management systems to meet contractual and commercial requirements.
* Capacity to manage complexity and thrive in changing environments.
* Knowledge of hardware and software CM practices and tools.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to create buy‑in for initiatives.
* Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for stimulating exchanges.
* Outstanding problem‑solving skills and passion for solving difficult issues.
* Pragmatic, committed, and rigorous approach to work.
Desired
* Prior experience with configuration management in defence or avionics organisations.
Security Clearance Statement
This role requires a British National from birth and the achievement of Security Clearance (SC) without any caveats. SC clearance must be obtained before commencing employment. Criteria include: residence in the UK for the last 5 years (minimum 3 years acceptable) and reference to the National Security Vetting (NSV) Agency for evidence.
