We are seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Watford, starting ASAP. The school has a strong inclusive ethos and a well-established SEN provision, supporting pupils with a variety of needs including autism, ADHD, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, and learning difficulties. Staff work collaboratively under the guidance of an experienced SENCO, ensuring every child receives personalised support tailored to their needs. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis. You will help children access the curriculum, develop independence, and build confidence, while promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 or small-group support for pupils with SEN Assist pupils with academic tasks and learning activities across the curriculum Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and individual support plans Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development Promote positive behaviour, confidence, and independence Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and break times Monitor, record, and report pupil progress to teachers and SENCO Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to meet pupil needs Maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Have experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting Be patient, empathetic, and resilient Have excellent communication and teamwork skills Be proactive, adaptable, and reliable Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children Have a positive and supportive approach to behaviour management The school is located in Watford, with excellent transport links and a welcoming, supportive community.
