Ellesborough Golf Club is an 18-hole private members club, founded in 1906. Ellesborough is a chalk downland course, set in the Chiltern Hills, near Aylesbury. The club has full membership, with a waiting list and is therefore a popular venue.
Ellesborough is seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Head Greenkeeper. As the Deputy Head Greenkeeper, you'll play a key leadership role in the daily maintenance, presentation and ongoing development of the course. You'll be hands on, supporting the head greenkeeper in all aspects of course maintenance and management. You will help lead the greenkeeping team, contribute to the planning of work schedules, and ensure the course is presented to the highest possible standards year-round.
Key responsibilities:
· Support the Head Greenkeeper in all aspects of course maintenance, development and presentation.
· Assist with the planning and implementation of the clubs 10-year strategic plan.
· Supervise and motivate the greenkeeping team daily.
· Operate and maintain machinery and irrigation system.
· Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed.
· Assist with the training and development of junior staff.
· Deputise for the Head Greenkeeper in their absence.
· Help maintain excellent communication with members and promote a professional and approachable team culture.
The ideal candidate will:
· Hold minimum level 2 qualification in Sports Turf Management (Level 3 preferred).
· Hold PA1, PA2 & PA6 spraying certificates and Chainsaw certification (desirable but not essential as full training will be provided).
· Have strong technical knowledge in turf care, agronomy and course set up.
· Have a good knowledge of irrigation systems (Rain Bird preferred).
· Have minimum 5 years greenkeeping experience.
· Have a passion for golf and an understanding of golfer expectations.
· Have excellent attention to detail and strive for course excellence.
· Have good leadership and team management skills with a positive can-do attitude.
