We have vacancy across the following locations: Leamington Spa Warwick Trident Moreton Morrell Pershore This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College. In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based People Services Department. This role is pro rata and has a September start. The salary you will be receiving will be £29,946.80 per annum. PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS (THE CHILDREN’S ACT 1989) Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College). This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. By applying for this position, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations. https://blob.wcg.ac.uk/pdf/child-protection-procedure-a5e67894d353c2adb6ac53c08ce6e758.pdf BACKGROUND TO THE POST The Campus Security Officer is a vital, high-visibility role responsible for protecting the Warwickshire College Group (WCG) community and preventing damage or loss to college property. This position is designed to ensure that all campuses remain safe and secure environments for students, staff, and visitors. Beyond traditional security, this role acts as a projecting a professional, supportive image while maintaining the safety of the campus. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ● Patrol Duties: Conduct regular indoor and outdoor patrols to maintain a high-visibility presence and deter unauthorised activity. ● Access Control: Work with the wider Estates team to execute "open up" and "lock down" procedures for buildings; challenge unauthorised access or exit attempts. ● ID Enforcement: Ensure all staff, students, and visitors produce identification cards and wear lanyards as required by WCG policy. Challenge unauthorised site attendance ● Screening: Operate security screening equipment, such as metal detector wands or pop-up detector units, as part of a no-tolerance approach to prohibited items. ● Emergency Action: Take immediate and appropriate action in all emergency cases, including providing first aid as a designated campus First Aider. ● Lockdown Coordination: Support the "Run Hide Tell" protocol and work with the wider team to coordinate site-specific lockdown procedures during serious incidents. ● Fire Safety: Assist in the detection and prevention of fire and report any health and safety issues immediately upon discovery. ● Safeguarding Reporting: Respond to welfare and safeguarding issues, completing detailed reports in line with WCG procedures and training. ● Behavioural Management: Prevent improper or disorderly conduct and breaches of WCG rules; support staff when student behaviours escalate. ● Community Engagement: Proactively engage with the campus community to promote a culture of safety and build trust through a common-sense, proportionate response. ● Control Room & Reception: Support customer service reception enquiries, including access support and key issues. ● Lost Property: Receive and manage lost and found property according to WCG policy ● Systems Logging: Maintain accurate security records and incident logs; though currently restricted from certain systems, officers must provide detailed information for the college's "My Concern" reporting. ● Estates: Support the campus Estates Wardens and Facilities managers as appropriate including the enforcement of college policies and procedures for different types of emergencies, including Lockdowns, Evacuations or Invacuations.
