An exciting opportunity awaits in our dynamic Midlands Corporate Tax Advisory & Compliance team, based in either our thriving Birmingham or Nottingham offices. This role is your chance to make a tangible impact, advising a diverse portfolio of UK‑headquartered businesses and international groups across a broad range of sectors. You will be at the forefront of business and fiscal change, providing critical tax advisory support on complex matters such as the following:
Responsibilities
* Lead Complex Projects: Work directly with Partners and Directors, delivering technically excellent advice on challenging projects that shape our clients' futures.
* Forge Client Relationships: Develop and nurture robust client relationships, gaining deep insights into their businesses to identify opportunities for value-added tax and broader advisory services.
* Drive Cross‑Border Collaboration: Manage diverse UK and international teams on advisory projects, collaborating with specialists, overseas KPMG member firms, and external advisors.
* Oversee Compliance Excellence: Take ownership of managing and delivering compliance services, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
* Shape Team Performance: Play a pivotal role in managing team operations, including strategic resourcing, and actively coach and mentor junior colleagues, fostering their professional development.
* Pioneer Business Development: Proactively seek and pursue new client opportunities, collaborating with Partners and Directors on impactful business development initiatives.
* Champion Quality & Risk: Uphold the highest standards of engagement quality and risk management, alongside meticulous management of client financials.
* Embody Our Values: Be a role model for KPMG's values, contributing to a culture of integrity, excellence, and collaboration.
* Guiding clients through new market entries and the development of innovative business areas.
* Strategising on intricate business reorganisations, refinancings, and cash repatriation.
* Navigating challenging tax authority enquiries.
* Providing expert advice on pre/post-transaction reorganisations.
* Analysing the significant implications of global fiscal changes, including BEPS Pillar 2.
Qualifications
* Qualified CTA or ACA / CA, or an equivalent professional qualification.
* Strong UK corporation tax knowledge, complemented by an awareness of broader tax and accounting principles.
* Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication abilities to engage effectively with clients and colleagues.
* Robust analytical skills, a curious mindset, and a commercial approach to problem‑solving and delivering strategic advice.
* Excellent project management capabilities, demonstrating strong team collaboration and proactive initiative to drive projects forward.
* The ability to derive and apply critical insights to complex business and client challenges.
* A track record of sound judgement, identifying and evaluating risk issues, and knowing when to elevate concerns.
* Proven ability to multitask and effectively manage a diverse portfolio of clients, projects, and relationships.
* A strong motivation to develop and coach junior team members, investing in the growth of others.
* A dedication to continuously enhancing your technical skills and knowledge within a rapidly evolving tax landscape.
