We are seeking an Actuarial Consultant to join our Bristol or Cheltenham office on a hybrid basis (home and office). This role is ideal for a recently qualified actuary or a part-qualified actuary progressing towards qualification, with 3-4+ years of experience.
Opportunities are also available in our Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, or Glasgow offices.
This position is suitable for members of an actuarial team interested in a consulting career, including those working towards qualifying as a Scheme Actuary or Corporate Actuary. We offer excellent progression pathways to Partner.
DB pensions experience is essential.
Snapshot of your day:
1. Calculate complex individual member calculations, verify straightforward calculations, and progress to verifying more complex ones.
2. Perform calculations for actuarial valuations.
3. Review draft client reports, advice, and member communications.
4. Collaborate with a Client Account Manager to understand client objectives and requirements.
5. Aim to become a Client Account Manager for several clients, taking on related responsibilities.
6. Participate in client meetings and contribute actively.
7. Support various client projects and collaborate with our corporate team across different areas.
8. Handle general consultancy tasks, respond to client and third-party queries, and provide technical advice.
9. Manage client relationships, oversee work allocation and completion, and ensure deadlines are met, working closely with senior team members.
10. Design and manage surveys, using statistical techniques to analyze data.
11. Apply techniques and principles to assess probability and risk in areas like pensions.
12. Assist in developing practice area services, procedures, tools, and marketing materials.
13. Research technical topics and report findings to the team.
14. Review colleagues' work and support the training and development of junior team members.

* Actuarial qualifications (FIA / FAA) or are part-qualified, progressing through exams.
* Strong IT and presentation skills.
* DB pensions experience or a solid understanding of pension basics.
