Complex Care Support Worker

£ £16.00 Per hour

Full+ Bank staff for emergency and Annual Leave/Sickness cover.

We are currently looking for people to join our team of Support Workers based in our client's home.

CHD Complex Care is part of CHD Living's award-winning group of care services. We created our domiciliary care offering to help give some peace of mind to our clients living at home and their families. Our care team is dedicated to providing tailored services to those who need it most.

CHD Complex Care, South Surrey has an exciting opportunity for Support Workers to join a specialist team to support a young gentleman who has sustained a traumatic brain injury, to continue to live his life his way, in the comfort of his own home with his family in Woking, Send.

Do you want to make a change in a young person's life who has sustained a traumatic head injury? If yes, you will learn a lot about the fascinating world of neuroscience and enablement in the process

We are looking for someone with a cheerful, caring and positive attitude with a good sense of humour. You will need to be comfortable working in the client's home. You will be flexible and reliable.

Essential Requirements:

* You will, as a team, be supportive in his activities of daily living including the provision of all aspects of personal care, support with nutrition and diet management via a gastrostomy tube, skin management and hoisting. You will also be expected to implement daily therapeutic programmes that have been designed to promote his treatment by his team of therapists.
* You will be required to support the client to attend college, participate in community and social activities that he so wishes to as well as accompany him on holiday.
* This is an Ideal role for someone looking to expand their knowledge within the health and social care industry working with an MDT. No former knowledge or experience in caring for a person with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) is required as we offer a full training programme in this field of specialist care with ongoing support and regular supervision.
* Physically fit - Even with specialist equipment in place and appropriate training, it is important that you are physically fit.
* Experience/understanding of mental health issues & basic understanding of the principles of rehabilitation
* A proactive approach to developing an appropriate range of activities.
* Full driving licence (endorsements to be disclosed) and able to drive the client's vehicle.
* Willing to travel on holidays.
* To support our client in maximising his independence in all activities of daily living.
* To enable and promote our client in pursuing social outings
* To provide companionship
* To assist with any personal care required
* To implement strategies/follow therapy programmes devised by the treating therapists to assist our client to develop their independence.
* To promote self-esteem and confidence.
* To assist with domestic chores around the home ie – tidying around the home, laundry, cleaning of equipment
* To advocate for our client's well-being when it is appropriate to do so.
