Job Description
Location: In Office (with occasional client site visits)
Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 depending on experience
We’re seeking a skilled and motivated ex-heating engineer to transition into an office-based Technical Sales and Support Specialist role within our growing Domestic Heat Pump division. As a leading national distributor of heat pumps for domestic and pool applications, we’re looking for someone with hands-on experience as a heating engineer—ideally with heat pumps, but general domestic heating or HVAC experience is equally valuable—who is ready to leverage their technical expertise in a customer-facing, office-based role.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a former heating engineer to move off the tools and into a dynamic position focused on technical sales and technical customer support. You’ll work primarily from our office, with occasional site visits, to lead technical sales and provide expert project management for domestic heat pump installations. We are a small business, so you will likely also get invovled on the Technical side of our pool heat pump business. Supported by our experienced team, you’ll manage your own sales pipeline and deliver tailored solutions to homeowners and B2B clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Handle enquiries, guiding domestic customers and installers through the design and specification process (under the MCS workflow where appropriate).
* Conduct technical site surveys and assessments to ensure accurate system designs and check feasibility of the project prior to preparing quotations.
* Provide technical support for customer inquiries and resolve complex queries during busy periods on both the domestic heat pump and swimming pool heat pumps.
* Problem solving, and fault diagnosis during installations and providing post installation support to speedily resolve for our clients and end users.
* Account manage B2B clients (e.g., installers using our branded heat pumps).
* Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
* Stay up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and heat pump innovations.
* Represent the company at industry exhibitions, trade shows, and networking events.
* Collaborate with directors to develop and implement a business development strategy.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a former heating engineer (ideally with heat pump experience, but domestic heating or HVAC expertise is sufficient) who is eager to transition into an office-based role. You’ll combine your technical knowledge with a passion for customer interaction and problem-solving.
Key Requirements:
* Hands-on experience as a heating engineer, ideally with air source heat pumps, domestic heating systems, or HVAC.
* Knowledge and understating of domestic plumbing systems.
* Ability to read electrical circuit diagrams.
* F-gas qualification desirable but not essential.
* Strong technical understanding of heating systems and the ability to design and specify solutions.
* Manage the full project lifecycle from initial customer enquiry through to system handover.
* Ability to prepare MCS paperwork.
* Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
* Ambition, reliability, and resilience to thrive in a sales and support role.
* Willingness to learn and adapt, with a proactive approach to generating business opportunities.
* Basic sales experience is a plus, but not essential—we value technical expertise and a drive to succeed.
* Comfortable working in an office environment with occasional site visits.
Why Join Us?
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ex-heating engineer to step into a rewarding, office-based career with a national leader in heat pump distribution.
