About the Financial Advocate and Appointee role
Dosh is a not‑for‑profit company that supports people with a learning disability to have more control and independence over their money. It is a specialist company within the Thera Group, providing support in England, Scotland, and Wales. The company was set up in 2007.
Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen in Nottingham for a Named Financial Advocate to act as appointee and financial advocate for people with a learning disability. As an advocate you will support people to manage their finances and help them, their support team and family use their money to achieve their goals and live the life they choose. You will also be responsible for managing benefit claims, budgeting and arranging bill payments, enabling them to make informed choices and express their views, giving them more control and independence with their money.
Although this is a home‑based role, it will include frequent travel to visit the individuals you support, in addition to remote support from local advocates, managers and the administrative and finance teams based in our office in Grantham.
Responsibilities
* Support individuals in managing their finances.
* Manage benefit claims and budgeting.
* Arrange bill payments.
* Conduct client visits, primarily on weekdays with occasional evenings or weekends.
* Collaborate with local teams and remote support staff.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience and knowledge of financial services or the benefits system.
