Role: Systems/Project Accountant
Reporting to: Finance Director
Location: St Helens (wfh1 day per week)
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000
Our client, a rapidly expanding service business are looking for a hands-on Systems & Projects Accountant in a newly created. Following a number of recent acquisitions, the System/Project Accountant will play an integral part in improving current processes, ensuring systems work smarter, faster, and more reliably.
You’ll play a key role in strengthening finance systems, fixing issues at the root cause, enhancing workflows, supporting new tools and automation, and helping onboard newly acquired businesses into unified processes.
Responsibilities
* Investigate and resolve issues across finance systems and integrations
* Improve end-to-end processes and eliminate manual inefficiencies
* Support system upgrades, configuration changes, and workflow enhancements
* Lead or support the rollout of PO, automation, and finance tools
* Ensure system outputs are accurate and reliable for month-end
* Support onboarding of newly acquired entities, including data migration and process alignment
* Work closely with Finance, AP/AR, and external system partners
* Document processes, changes, and configurations clearly for users
Experience & Qualifications
* ACA/ACCA/CIMA part-qualified or qualified (or equivalent experience)
* Strong accounting knowledge, controls understanding, and reconciliation skills
* Experience working with finance/ERP systems and data flows (e.g., Intact or similar)
* Proven ability to dig into system issues and identify root causes
* Experience implementing or improving PO, workflow, or automation tools
* Confident handling complex datasets with strong Excel capability
* Experience with multi-entity environments or acquisitions is a strong advantage
